Riverside's "Larry the Lamplighter" in the Late 1800's
As you probably know, all of Riverside's gaslights used to be lit by hand each evening. Here is a photo of "Larry the Lightlamper" from the late 1800's.

That would be the perfect job for me! Sleep late, enjoy the morning paper, have a long lunch, take a nap, then go light the street lamps! I'm sure there is more to it than that, and I wonder if Larry made his fgull living as lamplighter, or if he also had another job?
